- Must have a valid state license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to practice professional nursing in Virginia.
- Two (2) years nursing experience, preferably in community health.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Nurse should have knowledge of professional nursing practices, childhood illnesses, chronic conditions, communicable disease control, and emergency care procedures. Skills required include clinical assessment, medication administration, accurate documentation, and effective communication with students, families, and staff. The nurse must be able to adapt quickly to different school environments, exercise sound judgment in emergencies, maintain confidentiality, and build positive relationships. The ability to remain calm under pressure, recognize when to escalate health issues, and promote student wellness is essential.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
- Travel within the City of Lynchburg as needed.
