Assistant Manager - Job Description
Job Purpose: The Assistant Manager (AM) works closely with the Store Manager (SM) to ensure smooth and successful operations at Candy Cloud. This position requires keen awareness of all areas of the store, including the lobby, line, and back-of-house (BOH). The AM plays a critical role in identifying what’s needed during busy times and ensuring the leads can manage the line effectively when present. In the absence of the SM, the AM is the primary point of contact for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, resolving technical issues, and handling customer service concerns. Exceptional customer service, problem-solving, and adaptability are essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee the completion of opening and closing procedures, ensuring all checklist items are met.
- Ensure the temperature log is completed and up-to-date.
- Communicate with the SM regarding low product levels or any issues that arise during the shift.
- Complete the inventory stock list accurately and efficiently.
Customer Service & Issue Resolution:
- Handle customer complaints effectively, following the steps:
- Offer to remake the drink.
- Offer a gift card if needed.
- Provide a refund as a last resort.
- Maintain a positive attitude at all times, even during stressful situations.
Team & Employee Management:
- Collaborate with the SM to address employee concerns or issues promptly.
- Call in additional staff if coverage is needed; coordinate with the SM for assistance if necessary.
- Ensure that all employees adhere to company policies, health, safety, and security standards.
- Take disciplinary action when needed in alignment with company policies.
- Assist team members by stepping into various roles as needed during shifts.
Cost Control & Profit Optimization:
- Help optimize profits by controlling labor, minimizing waste, and maintaining cost efficiency.
- Be proactive in addressing issues like low inventory or machine breakdowns, ensuring the smooth operation of the store.
Leadership & Communication:
- Support the SM in leading the team with a positive, solution-focused management style.
- Ensure tasks assigned by the SM are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate with the SM and crew members effectively to relay important updates, issues, or operational needs.
- Be flexible and capable of handling day-to-day challenges, resolving problems on the fly as they arise.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude in stressful or high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills to ensure smooth team operations and customer service.
- Confidence in troubleshooting equipment or product issues and taking quick, effective action.
- Proficiency in cost control methods, including labor and waste management.
- Experience in customer service and handling complaints in a professional manner.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
