Job Description
SUMMARY
SPIRITT is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to provide strategic financial leadership and hands-on oversight of the organization’s accounting, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and administrative operations. This role will manage financial resources, support organization-wide budgets, monitor cash flow, oversee audits, ensure accurate and timely reporting, and partner closely with the CEO, COO, Board of Directors, and program leaders to strengthen financial systems and support program operations.
Responsibilities:

Oversee the organization’s accounting, finance, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management functions.

Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, metrics, and updates for Executive Leadership, the CEO, and the Board of Directors.

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accuracy, cost-reimbursement invoicing, and related financial controls.

Coordinate agency and program audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards, funder requirements, contracts, agency policies, and applicable regulations.

Collaborate with directors, managers, executive leadership, and the Board to develop annual budgets, budget modifications, and budget-to-actual reporting.

Partner with leadership to improve financial systems, administrative processes, risk management, procurement, and organizational efficiency.

Provide guidance, coaching, and support to finance and administrative staff while promoting collaboration, accountability, and alignment with SPIRITT’s mission and values.

Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements

Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MA/MBA and CPA preferred.

At least five years of relevant experience, including nonprofit financial management experience.

Experience managing finance and administration for an organization with a budget of approximately $3 million to $12 million preferred.

Strong knowledge of accounting, budgeting, compliance, audits, legal requirements, and resource development.

Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, technology, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, staff, the Board, and external partners.
The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit financial management experience, proven leadership in finance and accounting, and the ability to guide budgeting, compliance, audit, legal, and administrative functions in a dynamic organization.
