Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, documenting symptoms, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight to monitor patient health status.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, specimen collection, and basic wound care.
- Support physicians during procedures including X-ray imaging, suturing, or other minor surgical interventions in outpatient.
- Manage medical administrative support tasks like scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, ICD coding for diagnoses, and maintaining medical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols including Basic Life Support (BLS) standards and infection control procedures in fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant is desired but will train on the job
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems) and EMR/EHR management tools.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) require/will help with obtaining if not already certified; additional certifications such as phlebotomy, CMA, CNA, ETC are a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure settings.
