Accountant - Willow Grove, Pa - $75-80k
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with specialized experience in the title insurance and escrow industry. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations, manage complex escrow accounting functions, ensure strict regulatory compliance, and deliver accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of title-specific accounting practices, underwriter reporting, and the unique compliance requirements governing escrow accounts.
Escrow & Trust Accounting: Oversee the daily reconciliation of high-volume escrow and trust accounts, ensuring accurate tracking of earnest money deposits, loan proceeds, and disbursements.
Three-Way Reconciliation: Perform and review monthly three-way reconciliations (trial balance, bank balance, and book balance) to ensure zero variance and maintain strict regulatory compliance.
Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Underwriter Reporting & Remittance: Manage the monthly reporting and remittance of premium splits to title insurance underwriters, ensuring timelines and contractual obligations are met.
Audit & Compliance Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal, external, and state regulatory audits, as well as title underwriter examinations.
Month-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Process Improvement: Evaluate, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company and escrow assets, streamlining accounting workflows where possible.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA or progress toward a CPA designation is a plus.
Experience: 4+ years of professional accounting experience, with at least 2 years of direct experience within the title insurance, escrow, or settlement services industry.
Industry Knowledge: Deep familiarity with ALTA Best Practices, state insurance regulations, and standard title settlement procedures.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in standard accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) alongside title-specific platforms (e.g., SoftPro, RamQuest, Qualia, or ResWare). Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data modeling) are required.
