Position Summary
The Construction Laborer supports equipment operators, foremen, and other crew members with general earthwork and site-development activities.
This is a physically active position involving material handling, site preparation, hand digging, pipe installation, erosion-control work, concrete or asphalt work, and the operation of hand and power tools, skid steer work or mini excavator work.
Previous construction experience is preferred but may not be required for hardworking applicants who are dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn.
Construction Laborer Responsibilities
- Load and unload tools, equipment, pipe, materials, and supplies.
- Prepare, clean, and organize construction sites.
- Perform hand digging, trench cleaning, backfilling, and grading.
- Assist with the installation of pipe, drainage systems, utilities, and erosion-control materials.
- Assist equipment operators by spotting, checking clearances, and maintaining safe work areas.
- Operate hand and power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, compactors, and jackhammers.
- Mix, pour, spread, and level concrete or asphalt when required.
- Follow instructions provided by foremen
- Follow all company policies, OSHA standards, and jobsite safety requirements.
- Perform other general construction duties as assigned.
Construction Laborer Qualifications
- Previous grading, excavation, utility, concrete, asphalt, or general construction experience is preferred.
- Entry-level applicants may be considered based on reliability and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
- Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation are required.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
- Must be willing to travel to local jobsites.
- Must be available for overtime when required.
Compensation and Schedule
- Pay range: $18.00–$23.00 per hour to start
- Pay is based on the position, experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability.
- Employees are paid weekly.
- Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.
- Overtime may be available or required depending on project needs.
- This is a full-time, in-person position.
