South Carolina Addiction Treatment maintains a single-site restaurant-grade kitchen that serves three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as well as snacks. Meals are served 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The kitchen serves anywhere from 15-30 people per meal, including clients and staff. The kitchen operates from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The kitchen operates with 1-3 team members per day. Members of the kitchen will contribute to every aspect of the kitchen experience, including everything from preparing and serving food to cleaning, ordering, and stocking. Job Description:
The Cook functions as a member of the Kitchen team and ensures that all food-related needs for the facility are met, including decisions related to budget, ordering, preparation, consumption, storage, safety, cleanliness, and compliance. He / She works under the guidance of the Kitchen Manager and the Assistant Kitchen Manager. He / She operates under the guidance of food safety certification and in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Position-Specific Responsibilities:
- Cooks food items according to specified recipes and standards, ensuring nutritional value, balance, and quality, and distributes portion-controlled meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Prepares snacks and other readymade foods, ensuring that they are available outside of mealtimes.
- Monitors daily client census for portion-control purposes.
- Monitors daily client census for allergies.
- Performs inventory checks, ensuring that there are ample supplies.
- Orders and stores supplies with the guidance of the Kitchen Manager and with the assistance of various company vehicles.
- Keeps temperature records on all refrigerators and freezers.
- Monitors kitchen and other relevant areas for safety, cleanliness, and compliance.
- Meets with the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager on a regular basis in order to address concerns and areas for improvement.
General Responsibilities:
- Attends all scheduled meetings.
- Collaborates with staff to provide comprehensive treatment services for clients.
- Communicates effectively with staff, clients and their loved ones, independent contractors, volunteers, vendors, aftercare partners, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:
- Food Handler’s Certification required
- Driver’s License required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience working in a restaurant (or similar setting) preferred
- Must be able to read and write the English language
- Must be able to follow instructions
- Must be available to work on-call shifts as needed
- Must have great attendance and be reliable, punctual, and show up for work as scheduled
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
