As a CMT, you will play a key part in ensuring residents receive safe, accurate medication administration while supporting their overall well-being. Responsibilities
- Safely administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with state healthcare regulations and facility policies
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and medication records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any adverse reactions or changes in condition, reporting findings promptly to nursing staff
- Assist with resident personal care needs, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding assistance, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times
- Follow strict protocols for medication storage, handling, and disposal to ensure compliance with HIPAA and safety standards
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, or memory care activities related to dementia or Alzheimer’s care
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate comprehensive care plans
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medication Technician (state-specific requirements must be met)
- Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of medication administration and patient records
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and transferring residents safely
- Current certifications in First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and Basic Life Support (BLS) training preferred
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to foster trust and clarity among residents and team members
