Home care caregivers, A caregiver in home care provides personal care and support to people in their homes, such as seniors, people recovering from surgery, or disabled adults. Their responsibilities include:
- Daily activities: Assisting with bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Meals: Serving meals and helping prepare them
- Environment: Maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Emotional support: Providing emotional support and companionship
- Socialization: Encouraging residents to socialize and participate in activities
- Communication: Communicating with healthcare professionals or family members
- Records: Keeping proper care records
- Reporting: Reporting any unusual incidents or behavior
Caregivers can also help with light housekeeping duties and physical therapy exercises.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bedside manner
- Medical teamwork
- Promoting mental health
- Listening, analyzing information, and focusing on quality
- Physical ability to reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and lift up to 50 lbs. while avoiding potential injury
- Minimum 1+ year(s) professional or personal experience supporting individuals with disabilities, mental illnesses, or challenging behaviors
