Currently we are recruiting a Controls Technician on 2nd shift. This position will be responsible for installation and maintenance of automated industrial machinery. The controls technician keeps things running smoothly as they check on and maintain machinery.
Responsibilities:
- Preferred robotic experience.
- Experience programming Allen Bradley/Rockwell.
- Industrial networks knowledge (Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, Profibus, ControlNet).
- Preferred experience with VFD and servo drive systems.
- Thorough knowledge of power distribution as it applies to machine controls.
- Basic knowledge in the design and application of fluid power controls (hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum).
- Thorough knowledge of electro-mechanical control devices (optical, inductive, capacitive sensors; contactors, relays, switches; power supplies and transformers; motors and motor starters).
- Knowledge of common machine guarding devices (bumper strips, light curtains, area scanners, etc.).
- Experience with vision systems.
- Strong technical knowledge in programming, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment including robots, scanners, and cameras.
- Experience programming Fanuc robots or similar.
- Assist with integrating robots and standard vision systems into existing machines.
- Read and understand electrical prints.
- Read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and prints.
- Travel as needed to support project start-up and local manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety and machine guarding.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management.
- Ability to cope with stressful situations and maintain a professional and cooperative temperament.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- General fabrication skills: capable of constructing Robot EOATs, button installation, sensor brackets, machine guards, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including production improvements and preventive maintenance.
- Test, troubleshoot, and oversee implementation/integration of new processes and robotics.
- Install retrofits to existing systems and troubleshoot hardware and instrument issues.
- Maintain automation processes and generate reports.
- Support start-up activities.
- Respond to calls for assistance.
- Comply with all safety regulations and protocols.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of controls automation experience.
- Completion of a 2-year degree or technical certificate program, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Experience with PLC hardware and software.
- Experience with HMI hardware and software.
- Networks and database operation knowledge.
- Robot setup and programming experience.
- Vision systems setup and programming experience.
- Familiarity with principles of hydraulics, electricity, and pneumatics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair circuits using schematics, blueprints, and sketches.
- Proficient in using equipment and tools to check and repair machinery.
- Ability to program PLC and robotic controllers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
