Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at JPS Dibble Elementary as a Teacher Assistant. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys working with children. The Teacher Assistant will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a positive learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional materials and resources.
- Support students with their learning activities, providing one-on-one or small group assistance as needed.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, ensuring a safe and productive classroom environment.
- Help maintain an organized and clean classroom, including setting up and taking down learning materials.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans and educational activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support student success.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as grading assignments and maintaining student records.
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and participation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the classroom teacher.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Ability to adapt to various learning styles and needs of students.
- Background check and clearance to work with children required.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
