Ocala Flooring is looking for an experienced Field Superintendent to lead our installation teams and manage on-site operations for both retail and commercial projects. As the "eyes and ears" of the company on the jobsite, you will ensure that every project—from a local restaurant renovation to a large-scale retail build-out—is executed with the precision and professionalism our customers expect.
You will be responsible for coordinating subcontractors, managing material logistics, and maintaining strict quality control to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Management & Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day field operations for multiple concurrent flooring projects.
- Lead "Toolbox Talks" and morning huddles to assign tasks and reinforce safety protocols (OSHA compliance).
- Supervise both in-house installation crews and independent subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to Ocala Flooring’s standards of excellence.
2. Quality Control & Technical Oversight
- Inspect subfloor conditions (moisture testing, leveling) prior to installation to prevent future failures.
- Verify that installations match architectural drawings, finish schedules, and seam layouts provided by the Estimating team.
- Perform final walk-throughs with General Contractors (GCs) or homeowners to create and close out "punch lists."
3. Logistics & Coordination
- Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure all materials (LVT, tile, carpet, adhesives) and tools are delivered to the site on schedule.
- Manage project timelines, identifying potential delays early and communicating adjustments to the Project Manager.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, including progress photos and manpower reports, using mobile field software.
4. Customer & GC Relations
- Act as the primary point of contact for General Contractors, facility managers, and retail clients during the installation phase.
- Resolve field conflicts or site-specific challenges (e.g., unexpected subfloor damage) with diplomacy and technical expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in flooring installation or construction supervision, with specific experience in commercial interiors and retail environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of flooring materials (Luxury Vinyl, Ceramic/Porcelain Tile, Carpet Tile, Hardwood) and installation methods.
- Blueprint Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, and finish schedules.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting to the office and managing field crews.
- Travel: Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to jobsites throughout the Ocala/Villages area.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with construction management software.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus for crew management.
- Knowledge of moisture mitigation systems and self-leveling underlayment applications.
Benefits at Ocala Flooring
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and holiday pay.
- The stability of working for a family-owned company with deep roots in the Ocala community.
