Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ respiratory status through detailed evaluation of vital signs, oxygen levels, and lung function to determine appropriate therapy plans.
- Administer respiratory treatments such as aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation with precision and safety.
- Operate and monitor ventilators and other respiratory equipment, adjusting settings based on patient response and physician orders.
- Manage airway emergencies by performing intubations, extubations, and airway clearance procedures in collaboration with emergency teams.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians specializing in pulmonology, pediatrics, geriatrics, and trauma—to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records, including assessments, treatments administered, and response to therapy.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory health management, medication use, and post-discharge care instructions.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, critical care environments such as ICU or PICU, with familiarity in emergency medicine procedures.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pulmonary function testing.
- Hands-on experience with ventilator management, airway management techniques, and acute care protocols.
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs monitoring and medication administration.
- Prior hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable; outpatient or clinic experience is a plus.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients across diverse age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics. Pay: $31.00 - $37.00 per hour
