M-F 1:00-4:30 (There is a chance, that some days teaching may be from 9:00 AM -12:15 PM, depending on morning classroom availability).

Please note this position requires in-person teaching at and not remote teaching.
Responsibilities
The teacher’s primary objective is to:
- Use the CISL teaching and supplemental materials to provide a communication-based, small-group English program to international adolescent students (14-17) participating in the Junior Program.
- Make use of the methodology covered in training in order to maintain a level of uniformity within the program.
- Prepare their daily lessons and to make sure that any materials or lessons they plan to use that are not included in the program materials are approved by the Head Teacher prior to using them in class.
- Take attendance.
- Submit report cards
Hours
Teachers are paid 4 hours per day for teaching 3.25 teaching hours per day paid at the teaching rate and 1 hour of preparation/academic Admin work per day at minimum wage of NYC . Teachers are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes before class, in the event that the Program Coordinator or the Head Teacher has any important matters to go over with the teachers at the beginning of the day and to ensure that classes are started on time every day.
Short staff meetings may be conducted before or after class depending on needs. If additional prep time is needed, it needs to be approved by the Program manager.
Activities Assistant Option - In addition to teaching, there may be days when the specific activity for the day may require additional student supervision and teachers will be given the opportunity to sign up for additional hours on those days to participate in the activity and provide assistance to the Activities Coordinator as needed. Teachers will be paid at the activities pay rate for their time ($20/hour). This is done only under exceptional circumstances.
Qualifications
The current minimum qualifications for an individual to be considered for an ESL teaching position with CISL include two basic criteria:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (ESL, English, Literature, Journalism, Secondary Education, Primary Education, International Relations, and others)
- Certification to teach ESL (State licensure, TEFL Certificate, CELTA, DELTA...)
- One year of professional ESL teaching experience in a group setting.
