Relationship Banking Consultant (Personal Banker / Universal Banker Experience Preferred)
Position Summary
The Relationship Banking Consultant, located in O'Fallon, IL serves as the first point of contact for clients and is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while driving branch growth through relationship building, financial solutions, and banking product sales.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience as a Personal Banker, Universal Banker, Relationship Banker, Retail Banker, Branch Banker, Financial Services Representative, Consumer Banker, or Credit Union Member Services Representative.
Successful candidates will have experience developing customer relationships, identifying financial needs, conducting outbound calling activities, generating referrals, cross-selling banking products, and achieving sales goals in a customer-focused environment.
In This Role You Will
Client Acquisition, Relationship Building & Sales
- Acquire, deepen, and retain client relationships through proactive service and sales activities.
- Conduct full financial conversations to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking solutions.
- Generate new business through outbound calling, lead generation, appointment setting, customer follow-up, referral networking, and relationship-building activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients to increase household and portfolio growth.
- Achieve branch and individual sales goals through consultative sales and relationship management.
- Leverage internal partnerships to expand and retain the client base.
Banking Product Sales & Financial Solutions
- Recommend and sell consumer banking products and services based on client needs, including:
- Checking Accounts
- Savings Accounts
- Money Market Accounts
- Certificates of Deposit (CDs)
- Debit Cards
- Credit Cards
- Consumer Lending Solutions
- Home Equity Products
- Mortgage Referrals
- Digital Banking Services
- Online and Mobile Banking Solutions
- Investment and Insurance Referrals
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and referral generation.
- Utilize needs-based selling techniques to deliver tailored financial solutions and enhance client loyalty.
Customer Service & Financial Guidance
- Deliver a world-class customer experience during every interaction.
- Provide guidance on digital and self-service banking options to improve convenience and efficiency.
- Build long-term relationships through trusted financial conversations and proactive customer engagement.
- Resolve client inquiries and provide solutions that strengthen customer satisfaction and retention.
Risk Management & Branch Operations
- Adhere to all banking policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage risk while ensuring efficient, accurate branch operations.
- Process transactions accurately and maintain operational excellence.
- Support overall branch performance through teamwork and collaboration.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Note: As part of the employment process for this position, you will have to meet the requirements of a background credit check. This position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous cash-handling experience preferred
- Minimum of 24 months of sales and/or banking experience preferred
- Life License (LB) preferred
- NMLS registry required after hire
- Proven sales skills
- Good analytical skills
- Developed customer service skills, including written and verbal communication
- Ability to use a PC and alpha/numeric keyboard
- Flexible work week schedule, which may include Saturdays

The range is driven by the geographic location of the anticipated hiring location; however, the specific range may vary depending on the geographic location for various positions. Compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each hiring instance.
A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is $19.00 - $24.00
