Driver / Behavioral Health Coach
Driver / Behavioral Health Coach (Driver / BHC)
Operations / Service Delivery
Multiple — Variable by Operational Need
Position Summary
The Driver / Behavioral Health Coach is responsible for providing safe, timely, and professional transportation for adolescent clients across all Horizon Recovery locations. This position is also fully trained and maintains active competency in all functions of the Behavioral Health Coach role.
When transportation needs are low, the Driver / BHC fills in as a BHC — supporting clients, the clinical team, and the milieu with the same engagement standard expected of all BHCs at Horizon Recovery. This is a dual-function role. Proficiency in both areas is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Transportation
- Ensure safe and timely pick-up and drop-off for all transportation needs, including appointments, intakes, location transfers, court dates, discharge facilities, and urgent needs such as higher levels of care or emergency room visits.
- Travel only to and from scheduled destinations, maintaining the same adherence to program rules and professional boundaries expected on-site.
- Safely operate company vehicles and perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and promptly report maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain accurate transport logs, mileage records, and client sign-in/sign-out documentation.
- Communicate immediately with the Rover Supervisor if problems arise or if unable to complete assigned transports.
- Check and adhere to the assigned calendar daily to ensure all scheduled transportation and BHC duties are met.
- Obtain any required medications for new intakes as directed.
- Assist with company transport needs and help move furniture or equipment between Horizon Recovery locations when requested.
- Depending on shift assignment, close and secure the administrative office at end of day and ensure cleanliness and order.
2. Behavioral Health Coach Coverage
When not assigned to transportation duties, perform all BHC functions as outlined in the Horizon Recovery BHC job description. This includes:
- Direct engagement and supervision of clients in the milieu.
- Emotional support and de-escalation using trauma-informed, coaching-based approaches.
- Documentation of client behavior and activities in the EMR within required time frames.
- Assistance with medication administration, vitals, and health and safety screenings.
- Urinalysis testing in accordance with Horizon Recovery's policy and procedure.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and therapeutically structured environment.
- Supporting meal preparation for clients, including preparing and cooking meals in accordance with facility standards.
3. General Expectations
- Provide excellent service to clients, families, and staff in all interactions.
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements, HIPAA, and Horizon Recovery's Code of Ethics.
- Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and infection control standards.
- Be flexible and prepared to work at any Horizon Recovery location as operational needs require.
- Other duties as assigned.
