Duties
- Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly to ensure a clean and organized workspace
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following recipe guidelines
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in all areas of the kitchen by adhering to safety standards in production and food handling procedures
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, slicers, mixers, and other culinary tools
- Support meal preparation activities by assisting with ingredient prep and plating under the supervision of culinary staff
- Ensure all food items are stored properly according to safety standards and inventory protocols
- Collaborate with kitchen staff through clear communication to facilitate smooth service flow during busy periods
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Food service or restaurant experience demonstrating knowledge of food industry practices and safety standards
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and catering processes is a plus
- Strong knife skills with proper slicing techniques for efficient ingredient prep
- Knowledge of food safety management principles including proper food handling, sanitation, and hygiene practices
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and follow detailed instructions accurately
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with kitchen staff and support team members
- A proactive attitude towards cleaning duties and maintaining a hygienic workspace
