Job Description:

The Concrete Paving Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting concrete paving equipment while ensuring that machinery such as slipform pavers, concrete placers, curb machines, trowels, mixers, and other heavy equipment operate efficiently and safely to support paving operations.

This position is one in which a momentary lapse of attention may result in grave and immediate danger to themselves and others; therefore, this position is classified as safety sensitive.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs routine maintenance on concrete paving equipment.

Tests and inspects equipment for malfunctioning parts. Repairs or replaces worn, defective, or broken parts.

Adjust paving equipment components according to specifications for each project.

Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.

Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment and information is available for the work.

May perform other duties as assigned by Foreman or Division Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

3 years of experience in the civil construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of concrete paving operations.

Basic knowledge of welding techniques/safety procedures

Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.

Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, and squat as required for various duties with the equipment.

Must be able to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.

Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Must adhere to safety requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Must be able to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and supervisors with other duties as required.

All candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening. Testing requirements may be Non-DOT or DOT regulated depending on the position applied for.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ Years of operating or mechanical experience with GOMACO Slip-Form Paving equipment.

Experience with stringless/GPS paving operations
