Hurtt Fabricating has an exciting career opportunity for a Working Lead. We are seeking a motivated, dependable individual who enjoys leading by example in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
The Working Lead is responsible for providing daily leadership and direction within the department while actively participating in production. This position works closely with the Plant Supervisor to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will promote teamwork, continuous improvement, and accountability while helping employees succeed and meet production goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Lead by example while actively performing production work alongside team members.
· Coordinate daily workflow with the Plant Supervisor to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
· Promote and enforce safe work practices and company policies.
· Train, coach, and provide daily guidance to employees within the department.
· Monitor productivity, quality, housekeeping, and workflow throughout the shift.
· Assist in assigning work and balancing workloads to maximize efficiency.
· Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment required to support production.
· Move materials throughout the Cut, Prep, and Finish departments as needed.
· Communicate effectively with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality personnel to resolve issues quickly.
· Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in implementing process improvements.
· Maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities
· Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
·Working knowledge of the equipment and machinery used within the assigned department and the ability to safely operate that equipment.
· Thorough understanding of fabrication processes within the Cut, Prep, and Finish departments.
· Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and mentor employees.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
· Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
· High attention to detail.
· Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
