Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting vital signs, medical histories, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) procedures to support patient treatment plans.
- Document medical information meticulously, including medical documentation, ICD coding, and detailed notes within EMR/EHR systems.
- Support physicians and healthcare providers with medical office management tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing medical records.
- Conduct patient education on treatment protocols, medication usage, and health maintenance strategies based on physiology knowledge.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols in hospital medicine, urgent care, dermatology clinics, or specialty units like PICU or trauma centers.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding to ensure precise communication and documentation.
- Proven experience in outpatient settings such as urgent care or dermatology clinics; inpatient hospital experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and EMR/EHR management tools for efficient data entry and retrieval.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to handle intake processes smoothly while providing compassionate care.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (BLS).
- Familiarity with hospital medicine practices across various specialties such as internal medicine or geriatrics; experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records, documentation accuracy, and supporting medical office operations efficiently.
