Construction Superintendent — Sarasota, FL
A&R Group | Commercial Construction | Full-Time | Exempt
Build Something You're Proud Of — Lead the Job Site as Our Next Construction Superintendent
A&R Group is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to take command of active commercial construction sites in the Sarasota, FL market. If you're a hands-on leader who knows how to run a tight schedule, enforce top-tier safety standards, and get subcontractors, vendors, and crews rowing in the same direction — we want to talk to you.
This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the CEO and Owner of A&R Group, with real ownership over site operations from mobilization to final walkthrough. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, know your way around blueprints as well as you know your own crew, and take pride in delivering quality work on time and on budget, this is your next move.
What You'll Do
Project Supervision & Scheduling
-
Own the daily workflow of the job site — supervising construction personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to keep task sequencing tight and productivity high.
-
Build and manage 3-week lookahead schedules that stay locked in with the master project timeline, adjusting in real time for weather, site conditions, and field delays.
-
Coordinate material and equipment deliveries, verifying quantity and quality against purchase orders and ensuring proper staging and site security.
Safety & Compliance Leadership
-
Serve as the site's go-to authority on safety — enforcing OSHA standards, local building codes, and company safety policy without exception.
-
Run daily site inspections, lead toolbox talks and safety meetings, manage hazard mitigation, and own all safety documentation and incident reporting.
-
Keep every phase of construction aligned with local jurisdictional codes and project specifications.
Quality Control & Technical Oversight
-
Read, interpret, and enforce blueprints and specs — catching discrepancies and conflicts before they become costly problems.
-
Perform routine quality inspections to guarantee craftsmanship and materials meet A&R Group standards.
-
Coordinate third-party and municipal inspections, and liaise directly with local authorities to secure sign-offs and permits.
Team & Resource Management
-
Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of field workers — tracking progress and allocating labor, equipment, and tools where they're needed most.
-
Partner with the Project Manager on cost tracking, budget alignment, and labor/material estimates.
-
Act as the critical communication link between the field team, Project Manager, engineers, architects, and ownership.
Documentation & Problem-Solving
-
Maintain detailed Daily Field Reports covering site activity, personnel, equipment usage, weather, progress, and any incidents.
-
Generate and manage RFIs to resolve field conditions and design questions quickly.
-
Anticipate and resolve trade conflicts and technical issues before they threaten the schedule.
What You Bring
-
10+ years of field experience in commercial construction — non-negotiable.
-
Prior experience in multi-family and/or hotel construction strongly preferred.
-
A four-year degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred — equivalent hands-on field experience will absolutely be considered.
-
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
-
Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
-
Proven ability to run an OSHA site visit and pass with flying colors.
-
Sharp leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills — you can talk to a crew, an architect, and ownership all in the same afternoon and be understood by all three.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
-
Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions — heat, cold, rain, wind — and able to access every part of a job site, including ladders, scaffolding, and elevation changes.
-
Ability to lift, carry, or position up to 75 lbs and work in physically demanding positions (kneeling, bending, squatting, standing for extended periods).
-
Willingness to travel within market and/or relocate based on project assignment.
