Position Overview
Maryland Fire Equipment is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Driver / Assembler to support our PPE Care Center operations. This role combines driving, delivery, warehouse support, and hands-on assembly of firefighter turnout gear.
This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys staying active, working with their hands, and being part of a team that supports the fire service community.
Pick-Up & Delivery Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles, including commerical vans and box trucks, for equipment pick-ups and deliveries
- Transport firefighter PPE (personal protective equipment) to and from fire departments
- Load, unload, and handle gear safely (up to 50 lbs)
- Navigate delivery routes using GPS and maps to ensure timely service
- Provide professional, friendly customer service at all department locations
- Maintain accuracy in pickups and deliveries, ensuring all items are accounted for
PPE Cleaning & Warehouse Support
- Assist with advanced cleaning and laundry of firefighter turnout gear
- Support daily workflow within the PPE Care Center
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Help move gear through the cleaning and inspection process efficiently
Assembly & Quality Control
- Perform final assembly of turnout gear after cleaning and repairs
- Inspect gear to ensure it meets quality and safety standards
- Follow established procedures and manufacturer guidelines
- Prepare gear for return to service
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
Preferred (not required):
- Delivery driving or warehouse experience
- Experience operating commercial vehicles
Work Environment
- Active, fast-paced environment (warehouse/PPE facility)
- Combination of driving, lifting, and hands-on tasks
- Indoor and outdoor work depending on deliveries
