Position Summary
MWI is seeking an experienced and safety-focused TIG Welder to join our team at the Rio Tinto Mine. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality TIG welding on a variety of materials while maintaining strict safety and quality standards in a mining environment. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other alloys as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures.
- Prepare, fit, and assemble materials before welding.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Operate welding equipment and related fabrication tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on welding equipment.
- Follow all site safety regulations, company policies, and mining procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a TIG Welder in an industrial, mining, or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Current welding certifications preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, metallurgy, and fabrication practices.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and hazard awareness.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, and site-specific requirements.

Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
