Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Long Term 2nd grade Substitute to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will provide seamless classroom coverage across various grade levels and subject areas, supporting the continuity of student learning. This role requires a strong foundation in childhood education, classroom management, and effective communication skills. The substitute will work on a daily basis, filling in for teachers to ensure a stable and engaging learning environment for students. Experience with children, behavior management, and familiarity with curriculum development are highly valued to deliver quality instruction and support student success.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and support in classrooms across different subjects and grade levels according to established lesson plans or curriculum guidelines.
- Implement lesson plans created by regular teachers, ensuring continuity of instruction.
- Manage classroom behavior to foster a positive learning environment, utilizing behavior management strategies as needed.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learners, including students with special needs or those requiring additional literacy or math support.
- Maintain student engagement and discipline while promoting a safe, inclusive atmosphere.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth transitions and effective communication regarding student progress and classroom needs.
- Assist with classroom setup, organization, and materials preparation as required.
- Uphold school policies and procedures, including safety protocols and confidentiality standards.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques.
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including preschool or early childhood education.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with students, staff, and parents effectively.
- Experience in tutoring or working with students on academic skills such as reading or math is a plus.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and experience working in private school environments is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented educational setting.
