The Director of Strategic Communications is a senior strategic leader responsible for shaping, strengthening, and advancing the organization’s brand identity, messaging strategy, and communication experience across all business lines, audiences, and platforms. This role partners closely with executive leadership to develop impactful communications that reinforce the organization’s mission, culture, market presence, and long-term business objectives.
This position leads the development of enterprise-wide communication strategies, brand storytelling, content development, creative campaigns, and executive messaging that create meaningful and consistent experiences for clients, employees, prospects, and industry partners. The Director of Strategic Communications ensures brand consistency across all specialties while embracing and elevating the unique strengths and differentiators within each practice area.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and creative, with strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to translate complex insurance concepts into compelling and engaging messaging.
This role will work closely with the Manager of Events and Experiences to ensure brand alignment, communication consistency, and meaningful audience engagement across organizational events, client experiences, internal initiatives, and community-facing activities.
Essential Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic communications plan aligned with organizational goals and growth initiatives.

Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on brand positioning, communication strategy, and messaging effectiveness.

Lead the development and stewardship of the organization’s brand voice, messaging framework, and communication standards.

Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and communication across all departments, specialties, and external platforms.

Balance enterprisewide brand cohesion while highlighting the unique expertise and value propositions of individual business units and specialties.

Oversee the creation, editing, and delivery of highquality internal and external communications, including: o Executive communications

Lead strategic storytelling initiatives that strengthen brand awareness, client engagement, and organizational reputation.

Design and guide creative campaigns that support business development, employee engagement, recruitment, retention, and community presence.

Translate complex insurance and risk management concepts into clear, compelling, and audiencefocused messaging.

Partner with leaders across operations, production, HR, client services, and specialty practices to align communication strategies with business objectives.

Collaborate closely with the Manager of Events & Experiences to create cohesive and impactful branded experiences across client events, internal meetings, conferences, community engagement activities, and organizational initiatives.

Support leadership with communication planning related to organizational growth, change management, and strategic initiatives.

Support and protect the organization’s reputation through thoughtful communication planning and messaging oversight.

Strengthen employee engagement and organizational culture through intentional internal communication strategies.

Support employer branding initiatives to attract and retain top talent.

Establish communication metrics and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, messaging, and engagement strategies.

Monitor market trends, communication best practices, and competitive positioning to continuously evolve the organization’s communication strategy.

Manage external vendors, creative partners, agencies, and communicationrelated resources as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or related field preferred.

7+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, brand strategy, corporate communications, marketing communications, or related leadership roles.

Experience within insurance, financial services, professional services, or other relationshipdriven industries preferred.

Demonstrated success developing enterpriselevel communication and brand strategies.

Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Experience leading creative campaigns, content strategy, and brand governance initiatives.
