Carpentry – Lead Man (Working Crew Leader)
· Daily job updates and communication with project manager
· Perform material take-offs and procure materials as required
· Interpret and perform project related construction tasks associated with engineering reports and drawings
· Complete material cost tracking during the project
· Maintain job site housekeeping during the project daily
· Possess communication skills for face to face homeowner interaction
· Take progress photos daily using provided smart phone and download project photos as required to the shared drive on the corporate computer server
· Install dust and protection controls as required in and around customer’s homes
· Construct major and intermediate structural framing using engineering drawings and sketches provided (layout, measure, cut and construct all aspects of framing)
· Install cabinets per layout drawings and any accompanying cabinet trim as required
· Install pre-packaged vanities and integral tops as required
· Install finish carpentry trim (baseboard, casing, crown molding, chair rail and shoe moldings)
· Install exterior and interior door units (hold up as required for various floor coverings)
· Install window units
· Install finish hardware (door knobs, towel bars, cabinetry knobs/ pull, etc.)
· Install drywall and finish on smaller jobs (subcontracted for whole house installations)
· Minor painting on smaller jobs (subcontracted when whole house painting is required)
· Safely work of ladders, GCC erected scaffolding and sub-contracted scaffolding
· Install prefabricated interior stair units
· Construct and install all exterior deck framing, stairs, decking and associated handrail systems
· Install toilets and plumbing fixtures (mostly performed by plumbing subcontractor)
· Detach and re-set lighting fixtures (mostly performed by electrical subcontractor)
· Installation od siding and exterior finishes (mostly performed by roofing and siding subcontractor)
· Inspect and monitor sub-contracted trades to ensure specifications, quality and tolerances are be met
· Meet with local building inspectors for various progression inspections
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all of the tasks above with a high level of quality, knowledge and professionalism.
· High school diploma or equivalent, (2) years of technical training and minimum of (10) years of actual related construction experience while performing this or very similar position
· Excellent communications skills and customer service (verbal and written)
· Valid driver’s license
· Own and operate a reliable means of transportation (truck or van is always preferred)
· Own and ability to operate all carpentry power and hand tools
· Ability to be part of a (24 hour) rotating emergency services schedule (not negotiable)
· Excellent supervisory and organizational skills are a must
· CDL (may be required)
· Basic math skills required for both carpentry tasks and project cost control monitoring
· Apply common sense and reasoning to understand and carry out changing job conditions.
· Follow directions both written and verbal to carry out all job requirements
· Pass drug test pre-employment and random (if required)
· Pass background check (felony convictions are NOT acceptable by our construction program partners)
· Driving records must be provided or authorized to be obtained prior to employment
· This work involved with this position is performed both in outdoor and indoor site conditions. Both hot and cold weather will be encountered as is the case with most construction type work. The employee will be at time exposed to working at elevated and precarious places, it is the responsibility of the work to deploy and use all safe working practices, personal protective equipment and fall protection to keep themselves and those around them safe.
· Physical demands will vary based on the task at hand, but each employee is expected to be capable of safely lifting and or moving object that weigh 50 lbs. All employees should be able to crouch, kneel, stand, reach overhead and or crawl into limited access work areas. (no confined space work is required)
· PPE will be provided based on the job requirement. It is the employee’s responsibility to assess and wear the proper PPE at all times.
· This will be discussed to the time of and interview and is based solely on the level of experience and is always relative to actual ability to deliver sustained performance for this position
