Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists is seeking an outgoing, organized, full-time Medical Assistant for our growing Orthopedic practice in Portland, Oregon. We are looking for a team player who can provide compassionate care as we put our patients’ lives back in motion!
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing direct patient care to a diverse patient population in our orthopedic outpatient setting. You are an integral member of the healthcare team, working in conjunction with the physician or advanced practice provider (PA and/or FNP) to provide specialized and compassionate orthopedic care to the community. Responsibilities include assisting the provider in clinic, interviewing patients to obtain a history, review allergies and medications, and to develop a rapport with patients. The Medical Assistant works heavily in the electronic medical records system and is also responsible for assisting in wound care, the application and removal of splints, casts, and braces, suture and staple removal, drawing injections, and assisting with in-office procedures. The Medical Assistant schedules diagnostic tests and lab tests, and works with our surgery scheduling team to ensure the patients’ pre- and post-operative courses are as smooth and comfortable as possible by coordinating care with referring physicians and outside specialists. Returns phone calls and completes paperwork in a timely fashion while maintaining the highest level of patient-centered care.
This role performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept & reflects Orthopedic + Fracture Specialists mission and Philosophy.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Between patients, physicians, O+F staff, clinic customers and the community.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Active BLS/CPR Certification
2. One (1) year of medical assisting experience in a high-volume medical practice clinical setting with direct contact with a culturally diverse patient population, orthopedics preferred
3. Medical Assisting certification is preferred, but not required.
4. ATCs are encouraged to apply!
