American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring PICU experience and Epic proficiency at a teaching hospital.

Float pool position covering multiple pediatric units including PICU, NICU, Peds Med/Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby
- Teaching hospital environment

Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)

Works 36 to 48 hours per week

Every other weekend required

Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays

Patient ratio of 1:2

Requires floating within scope of practice across assigned pediatric units

Epic EMR experience required
-
Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
-
Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
-
Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient populations
-
Teaching hospital experience required
-
Previous travel experience required (or NICU/PICU float pool experience considered)

Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS
-
Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending at submission)

BSN preferred
-
Peds PACU experience highly preferred
-
Previous charge experience preferred
-
Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
-
APHON, CPHON, and OCN certifications preferred
-
Provide pediatric critical care nursing across multiple specialty units as needed based on facility staffing demands
-
Assignment length of 18 weeks with possible extension through 01/02/2027
-
Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
-
Maximum 40 hours of RTO per contract; no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
-
No RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
-
Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to submission

Candidates must not have worked for the facility as permanent staff or a traveler within the past 12 months
-
External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached

First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience
-
Specialty-specific training modules completed during orientation, recorded in Workday
