Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Mechanic to join our team. In this vital role, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a wide range of heavy equipment, trucks, and farm machinery. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates safely and efficiently, while leading a team of technicians to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of mechanics, providing guidance on complex repairs and daily tasks
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues across various equipment including heavy trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Perform detailed inspections using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to identify root causes of malfunctions
- Conduct repairs on transmissions, brakes, suspensions, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and other mechanical systems
- Oversee equipment maintenance schedules to maximize uptime and longevity of machinery
- Utilize power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and hand tools to execute repairs efficiently
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards such as air brake systems, vehicle alignment procedures, hydraulics safety protocols, and electrical system repair guidelines
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment background
- Strong fabrication skills with the ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals
- Hands-on experience operating excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and other heavy machinery
- Knowledge of Caterpillar equipment or similar heavy truck brands is highly desirable
- Proficiency in automotive diagnostics and vehicle systems repair including diesel engines and automotive electrical systems
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate equipment
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with customer service skills for effective communication with clients and team members
- Certification in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment mechanics is preferred but not mandatory
- Valid certifications for welding, HVAC repair, tire service, or air brake systems are a plus

Pay: $27.34 - $32.93 per hour
