Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ respiratory status through detailed evaluations and physiological measurements, developing personalized treatment plans.
- Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, aerosol treatments, and airway clearance techniques.
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced medical equipment including ventilators, nebulizers, and pulse oximeters with precision and confidence.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care strategies.
- Monitor patient responses to treatments continuously, adjusting interventions as needed to optimize outcomes.
- Document all procedures, patient responses, and treatment plans accurately in medical records while adhering to confidentiality standards.
- Educate patients and their families about respiratory health management, including medication use and lifestyle modifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience practicing as a Respiratory Therapist in inpatient hospital medicine or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to respiratory health.
- Hands-on experience operating complex medical equipment such as ventilators and oxygen delivery systems.
- Familiarity with orthopedics and orthotics interventions in occupational therapy is a plus for comprehensive patient care.
- Background in post-acute care settings including sub-acute care or geriatrics enhances adaptability across diverse patient populations.
- Experience with dance therapy or other rehabilitative therapies can be beneficial for holistic treatment approaches.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude toward continuous learning and teamwork.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Current West Virginia State Respiratory Therapist License
- Current CPR Certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
