Zenith Firearms is seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Programmer to join our growing manufacturing team.
This is a hands-on position responsible for CNC programming, machine setup, machining, inspection, and continuous process improvement of precision components. The ideal candidate has strong CNC machining knowledge, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality parts.
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to manufacture precision components
- Develop and optimize CNC programs and machining processes
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and GD&T
- Perform machine setups, tool changes, work offsets, and tool offsets
- Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding methods, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies
- Inspect machined parts using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment as required
- Maintain tight tolerances and consistent production quality
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and dimensional issues
- Monitor tool wear and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity
- Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, tooling performance, part quality, and manufacturing efficiency
- Perform routine and preventative machine maintenance as required
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve manufacturing processes
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and/or lathes
- Strong understanding of G-code and CNC machining principles
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience machining materials such as steel and aluminum
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, workholding, and machining strategies
- Experience with CAM programming software; Camworks , SolidWorks CAM experience preferred
- Ability to use precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks associated with a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Haas CNC equipment or similar CNC machines
- Experience with multi-axis CNC machining
- Experience with CNC turning and/or live-tooling operations
- Experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks CAM
- Experience with fixture and workholding setup
- Experience with precision manufacturing and tight-tolerance components
- Previous firearm manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with quality management systems and Lean manufacturing principles
