POSITION SUMMARY
The Journeyman Carpenter plays a critical hands-on role in delivering the high-quality craftsmanship and homeowner experience Basements Plus is known for. With strong technical skill, precision, and consistency, this position supports the Lead Carpenter through all phases of construction, executing detailed carpentry responsibilities, assisting with layout and preparation, and keeping jobsite workflow organized and efficient.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Coaching & Team Development
· Coach and mentor Apprentice Carpenters to strengthen technical skills, efficiency and overall team performance.
Project Execution
· Consistently deliver high-quality workmanship on schedule with minimal supervision.
· Support the Lead Carpenter in planning, scheduling, and site preparation for upcoming phases.
· Serve as acting Lead Carpenter during absences, ensuring seamless project progress.
· Identify and communicate issues, material needs, or potential delays before they impact the schedule.
· Maintain project management software is updated daily with photos, notes and issues.
· Conduct work in accordance with Basements Plus Quality and ensure compliance with all building codes.
· Interact with homeowners with a solution-focused approach.
· Uphold a zero-punch list mentality. Striving to deliver a complete, flawless space for homeowner orientation.
Technical Mastery
· Premium Fit & Finish: Maintain consistent reveals, tight miters and copes, precise joinery, and exceptional stain-grade finishes.
· Doors: Pre-hung, pocket, French, and slab replacements; complex hardware installation.
· Architectural Details: Multi-piece crown, coffered ceilings, wainscoting, boxed beams, mantles, stacked moldings, paneled walls and soffits, bar fronts, base, casing, extension jambs, and sills.
· Built-Ins: Assist with design and build site-fabricated bookcases, hidden doors, cabinets, wood countertops, and bar rails.
· Stairs & Handrails: Install newels, handrail systems (fixed and removable), skirt boards, treads, and risers.
· Cabinet Installation: Install all types of cabinets including Euro-style; apply fillers, crown, toe kick, and valances; modify cabinetry for appliances as needed.
· Shower Systems: Install wall panel systems.
· Framing: Modify or add framing as needed to ensure structural integrity and code compliance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· 5+ years of residential finish carpentry.
· Proficient in framing, trim, finish carpentry, cabinetry, and stair systems.
· Commitment to high standards of carpentry.
· Ability to read plans, interpret scope and execute work independently.
- Clear, concise communicator with the team and homeowners.
· High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
· Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, insurance, and a cell phone.
· Must have own tools to accomplish carpentry work.
· Must be able to pass a background check and physical examination.
· Must be able to lift and move up to 75 lbs.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
