THE ROLE: Area Sales Manager, New York
LMNT is looking for a driven sales leader to join our team as an Area Sales Manager who will report to the Market Director. The ideal candidate will have strong industry experience in field sales, preferably within the beverage or broader CPG space. Working in a fast-paced, in-market environment, this person will own distribution, sales, and merchandising results across an assigned territory — turning every store visit, distributor relationship, and sampling into measurable distribution and sales gains. This role will be highly collaborative, with the Market Director, and will have continuous interaction with our distributor partners and retail accounts, as well as the broader Sales and Marketing teams.
Strong account management, territory planning, commercial instincts, excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills must be coupled with an unwavering commitment to in-market execution amid substantial brand growth and scaling, in addition to amplifying the brand mission to restore health through hydration.
JOB HIGHLIGHTS
Lead and execute LMNT’s first-ever DSD launch in the NY Metro market — building distribution, in-store standards, and the DSD partnership from the ground up.
DISTRIBUTION & SALES GROWTH
Build the Territory From Zero
- Achieve or exceed distribution, sales, and merchandising targets in your territory each quarter.
- Open new doors and expand shelf, display, and distribution within existing accounts.
- Grow distribution penetration from zero at launch and increase the average number of SKUs carried per store as accounts mature.
IN-STORE EXECUTION
Own Retail Standards
- Drive in-store execution through regular store visits — planogram compliance, pricing, and displays.
- Establish full planogram (POG) and programmatic compliance from day one.
- Strengthen customer retention and brand loyalty through compelling sales and retail programs.
DISTRIBUTOR PARTNERSHIP & FIELD ACTIVATION
Embed LMNT With Our DSD Partner
- Embed within the DSD account-manager teams through ride-alongs — learning their systems, routes, and accounts while building credibility.
- Manage retailer, distributor, and key-account relationships to maximize sales opportunities.
- Present LMNT’s programs, incentives, and priorities to the DSD teams to drive initial sell-in.
- Run samplings and represent LMNT at trade shows and distributor events.
- Partner with distributor sales and merchandising teams to ensure accounts are properly serviced.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & REPORTING
Lead and Track Performance
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of DSD account managers across the territory.
- Build a 30/60/90-day roadmap with clear, attainable distribution and case-volume targets.
- Track daily and weekly activity — accounts visited, new placements, and cases sold — and report wins on weekly alignment calls with the DSD and LMNT teams.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven track record of sales success, with field sales and territory management experience.
- Experience leading, developing, and motivating a field or DSD sales team.
- Comfortable building process and structure from scratch in an ambiguous, first-launch environment.
- Strong account, distributor, and key-account relationship management.
- In-market execution and merchandising discipline.
- Turns territory and sales data into actionable insights that guide priorities.
- 2–3+ years in beverage or CPG experience preferred.
- Background in sales, marketing, communications, or business.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A team player with a bias for action in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience with VIP/Karma and DSD (direct store delivery) a plus.
- Ability to travel within the assigned territory.
- Comfortable using AI to improve speed, quality and leverage in your own work and across the team.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
