Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice. The Physician Assistant will work closely with our surgeons to provide exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role includes patient evaluations, assisting in surgery, postoperative care, patient education, documentation, and collaboration with the clinical team to ensure an outstanding patient experience.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
- Review medical histories, medications, allergies, and diagnostic imaging.
- Evaluate patients for oral surgery procedures under physician supervision.
- Develop treatment plans in collaboration with the oral surgeon.
- Explain diagnoses, treatment options, risks, benefits, and postoperative expectations.
- Obtain informed consent when appropriate.
Surgical Assistance
- First assist during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.
- Assist with:
- Dental implant surgery
- Wisdom teeth extractions
- Bone grafting
- Sinus lift procedures
- Exposure of impacted teeth
- Biopsies
- Facial trauma procedures
- Full-arch implant surgery
- Maintain sterile technique and surgical protocols.
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation.
- Ensure proper instrumentation and equipment readiness.
Clinical Procedures
Depending on state regulations and surgeon delegation:
- Administer local anesthesia.
- Suture surgical sites.
- Perform incision and drainage procedures.
- Remove sutures.
- Manage postoperative complications.
- Evaluate healing progress.
- Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests.
- Prescribe medications within scope of practice.
- Provide emergency postoperative care.
Sedation & Anesthesia Support
- Evaluate patients prior to sedation.
- Monitor patients before and after surgery.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies.
- Work collaboratively with anesthesia providers and surgical staff.
- Ensure compliance with anesthesia and safety protocols.
Documentation
- Complete detailed clinical notes in the electronic health record.
- Maintain accurate surgical documentation.
- Review pathology reports.
- Coordinate referrals and specialist communications.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and HIPAA standards.
Patient Education
- Educate patients regarding:
- Surgical procedures
- Recovery expectations
- Medications
- Oral hygiene
- Nutrition
- Postoperative care
- Answer patient questions and address concerns compassionately.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
