Position Summary
The MECK Pre-K Teacher Assistant partners with the Lead Teacher to provide a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate preschool classroom that meets all MECK Pre-K and North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (NC DCDEE) standards.
The Teacher Assistant helps create an environment where children feel safe, respected, encouraged, and excited to learn every day.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
- Ability to qualify for employment in a licensed NC DCDEE childcare program
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Professional, dependable, and positive attitude
- Passion for working with young children and supporting their development
Preferred
- Experience in a MECK Pre-K or NC Pre-K classroom
- Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities
As a MECK Pre-K Teacher Assistant, you will:
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans
- Foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
- Supervise children to ensure their health, safety, and well-being at all times
- Assist with classroom routines, meals, outdoor learning, transitions, and daily schedules
- Help prepare learning materials and classroom activities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming preschool classroom
- Observe children's progress and assist with documentation as needed
- Follow all MECK Pre-K guidelines and NC DCDEE licensing regulations
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development
