Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Press Operator to join our production team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining our EFI Vutek wide-format inkjet printer to produce large-format graphics at the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on press experience, a strong eye for color accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Duties
- Operate the EFI Vutek wide-format printer for production runs across a variety of substrates including vinyl, rigid boards, and specialty media
- Perform color calibration, ICC profile selection, and RIP software operation to ensure color accuracy and consistency
- Conduct pre-press file review including press layouts, resolution verification, and substrate setups
- Monitor print quality throughout runs and make adjustments as needed to maintain output standards
- Perform routine printer maintenance including head cleanings, system checks, and general machine cleanliness.
- Troubleshoot print issues including banding, color shifts, and setup errors.
- Maintain accurate production time reporting and track material usage.
- Coordinate with production and finishing teams to ensure on-time delivery.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and in compliance with safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating a wide-format inkjet printer or equivalent print equipment.
- Proficiency with RIP software such as Fiery, Caldera, or Onyx Thrive.
- Strong understanding of color management principles including ICC profiles and color correction
- Ability to read and interpret production instructions and job tickets
- Comfortable working with a wide range of substrates and print specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality output
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a high-volume or event graphics production environment
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for basic file review and preflight
- Experience with post press signage operations
- Forklift operating experience is a plus
