The Fence Installer / Laborer is responsible for the installation, repair, and removal of fencing and related materials at commercial, industrial, and residential job sites. This is a hands-on field position requiring physical labor, use of hand and power tools, and the ability to work safely and efficiently as part of a crew.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Install chain-link, wood, vinyl, ornamental, privacy, security, and other types of fencing.
- Measure and lay out fence lines according to project plans and specifications.
- Dig and prepare post holes using hand tools and equipment.
- Set fence posts and properly mix and place concrete.
- Install fence fabric, panels, rails, gates, hardware, and accessories.
- Install and adjust gates to ensure proper operation.
- Remove and replace existing fencing when required.
- Load, unload, and transport fencing materials, tools, and equipment.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, post drivers, augers, and other equipment used for fence installation.
- Assist with job site preparation and cleanup.
- Inspect completed work for quality and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow direction from the Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager.
- Work cooperatively with other crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Communicate material, equipment, or job site issues to the Foreman.
- Follow all Company and customer safety requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies
- Construction and/or fencing experience preferred.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of construction job sites and safe work practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a crew.
- Dependable and able to report to work on time.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel to different job sites as required.
Qualifications
- Previous fencing, construction, or general labor experience preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to pass Company and customer-required screenings.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when required by project schedules.
- OSHA 10 or other construction safety training preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, push, pull, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other job site conditions.
- Ability to work safely around construction equipment and active job sites.
Performance Expectations
Success in this position includes completing quality fence installations safely and efficiently, taking care of Company tools and equipment, maintaining a clean job site, working well with the crew, and consistently showing up ready to work.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
