Position Summary
The School-Based Mental Health Therapist provides direct clinical services to children and adolescents within school and community settings. This role focuses on supporting students’ emotional, behavioral, and social well-being to promote academic success and overall functioning.
The therapist collaborates with school personnel, families, and community providers to deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions and ensure coordinated, client-centered care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide individual therapy to children and adolescents within the school setting
- Conduct diagnostic assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on identified needs
- Monitor client progress and update treatment plans as clinically appropriate
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including progress notes and service records
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, families, and external providers to support student success
- Implement evidence-based and trauma-informed therapeutic interventions
- Support students in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and school-based planning sessions
- Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate intervention and follow-up
- Ensure compliance with Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), licensing board standards, CARF, and agency policies
- Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development
Qualifications
- Active Ohio licensure required: LSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (Master's prefered), Master's degree in Counseling
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or families preferred
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices
- Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school and interdisciplinary team environment
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and documentation standards preferred
- Valid Ohio driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required

Work Environment

Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
