Neuro Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – $180/Hour

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time Neuro Oncology assignment with a leading academic acute-care hospital in San Francisco.
This is a 26-week contract providing outpatient care to adult Neuro Oncology patients. The ideal provider will have previous Neuro Oncology experience; however, candidates with strong Adult Oncology, Infusion Center, or Neurosurgery experience will also be considered.
Position Details
- Full-time, 5 eight-hour shifts per week
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
- No nights, weekends, holidays, or call
- Approximately 7–10 patients per day
- Adult patient population
- Combination of in-person and video appointments
- Provider must be on-site for virtual visits
- Scheduled outpatient clinic coverage
Responsibilities
- Conduct outpatient Neuro Oncology visits
- Evaluate and manage adult patients with neurological cancers and related conditions
- Collaborate with the attending physician, nursing staff, and practice coordinator
- Coordinate treatment plans and ongoing patient care
- Perform lumbar punctures when appropriately trained and qualified
- Complete shunt checks and reprogramming when appropriately trained and qualified
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Support Staff
The provider will work within a well-supported academic department that includes:
- One attending physician assigned to the provider
- Nine registered nurses
- Two RNs working directly with the APP
- One practice coordinator
Requirements
- Active California Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
- California DEA registration with Schedule II and IIN authority
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Experience in Adult Neuro Oncology strongly preferred
- Adult Oncology or Infusion Center experience will be considered
- Neurosurgery experience may be considered, particularly when combined with Oncology experience
- Both inpatient and outpatient Oncology experience will be reviewed
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology Nursing Certification
- Experience performing lumbar punctures
- Experience conducting shunt checks or shunt reprogramming
- Previous experience in an academic medical center
Compensation
$180 per hour
