American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma center in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience across multiple surgical service lines.

23-room OR within an acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma center
-
Day shift, 4x10s (6:45–17:15)
-
Works across all surgical service lines except cardiovascular
-
Required to work 1 weekend per month
-
On-call required approximately 1 time per week
-
Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility is required of all travelers

Uses Cerner for charting (experience preferred)

Scrubs are provided for this role

Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation

Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process

Current BLS required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)

CNOR preferred

Minimum 3 years of OR experience required

General OR and Level I trauma experience required

Required surgical case experience spans multiple service lines including: General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple), Bariatrics (laparoscopic-assisted cases), Neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), Orthopedics (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, open and closed fracture reduction), Plastic Surgery (free flap/microvascular), Transplant (organ donation), and Urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy)

Required trauma experience includes amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and MVA with multiple injuries

Required emergency management skills include code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, and malignant hyperthermia protocol

Required equipment experience: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables
-
Required clinical skills: blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time-out), and urinary bladder catheterization

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Travel pairs are not accepted

Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler

Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
