JOB FUNCTION:
We are seeking an experienced Facilities, Grounds & Capital Maintenance Tech for the maintenance, appearance, safety, and long-term reliability of our manufacturing facility and surrounding property. Performs variety of skilled duties in one or more of the building trades, such as carpentry, HVAC, minor electrical, or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing all APA buildings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Facility & Building Maintenance
- Manage maintenance and repair of facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, roofing, and fire protection systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance for all building assets and utilities.
- Coordinate repairs and emergency response activities to minimize operational disruptions.
- Grounds & Property: Landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, fencing, and snow removal activities ensuring the facility and grounds are maintained to high safety and appearance standards.
- Plumbing: Requires the ability to install and repair steel pipe, pvc, copper, sewer (abs), natural gas line (black pipe). Also, the ability to install and repair toilets, urinals, sinks, drains, vents, hot water heaters and condensate lines. Must be competent in specifying the correctly rated and appropriate plumbing fittings and fixtures with minimal support/supervision.
- Mechanical: Requires the ability to install and repair ancillary equipment for the support of the facility. May include some fabrication with sheet metal, carpentry, ability to hang and finish drywall. Use of construction trades equipment such as powered saws, drills, sanders, pneumatic tools.
- Electrical: Requires ability to install and repair panels, circuit breakers, and ridged conduit as well as PVC. Must be able to correctly wire three phase motors and motor starting circuits, as well as single and three phase transformers for either power or lighting applications. Must be able to determine correct conductor size, appropriate fuse/branch circuit protection size, as well as any other requirement buy Electrical Code for installation of industrial equipment. This includes working with 220 up to 480. Troubleshooting abilities are crucial. Must have the proven ability to work with a Volt/Multi Meter, Amp/Clamp Meter.
- Lighting: Requires the installation and maintenance of interior, exterior, parking lot, emergency, exit, ballasts, and associated hardware.
- Air Compressors/Dryers: Must have ability to troubleshoot, repair and PM plant air compressors and air dryers.
- Truck Docks: Ability to troubleshoot and repair electric and spring loaded docks.
- Assisting Janitor with trash and other duties requiring assistance
- Perform other duties as assigned
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work and communicate well with others
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and standard safety procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- 2-3 years combined of related employment preferably in facility maintenance
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license in good standing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects
- Work involves frequent periods of standing and walking, which may include climbing ladders and staircases
- Must be able to perceive the nature of sound, utilize near and far vision, depth perception, provide oral information, and possess the manual dexterity to handle and work with various materials and objects which are essential aspects of this position
- Must be able to work some Saturdays and overtime when needed.
