Requirements:
- Academic knowledge of environmental, biological or ecological matters. Can be an undergraduate student.
- Experience providing guest service is preferred.
- Experience in guiding tours or leading group activities.
- National Association for Interpretation certificate or tour guide certification preferred.
- Must be willing to work with animals
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
Essential Duties:
· Guide nature tours, kayak nature tours, walking tours, nursery tours within the property and in the river
· Support the Natural Resources Manager of the property in any task related to nature conservation, service, education and environmental activities
· Record nature tours info and report every week and prepare monthly reports
· Assist with selling and proper use of POS when assisting at Nature Center
· Help maintain a clean environment, monitoring maintenance and maintain some elements and signs in nature trails and other areas
· Support Boat House when needed - Provide equipment to guest or members, attend visitors
· Support local, regional or international environmental initiatives, by the Natural Resources Manager request
· Support the environmental education and outreach program for local community
· Support the environmental education and outreach program for members, guest, staff, contractors and providers
· Take care of stranded animals or stray dogs when rescued by the resort staff, maintain the cage clean and feed them
· Support other departments in environmental issues, passing information to the Natural Resources Manager
· Do site visits in the resort by request of the Natural Resources Manager
· Arrange information collection when needed
· Prepare some base documents by request of the Natural Resources Manager
· Support site visits and inspections when needed
· Participate in meetings when needed
· Take or support collection of water, soil, flora and fauna samples
· Test and analyze water samples
· Support the Natural Resources Officer in any task related to his job in Bahia
· Support the grass carps biological control program
· Follow up initial behavior of grass carps in the lakes
· Monitoring of grass carps
· Other request by Immediate supervisor and/or Natural Resources Manager
Physical Demands:
Frequently stands and walks; uses hands to finger, feel or handle; reaches with arms and hands; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches; talks or hears. Occasionally sits; climbs or balances. Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
