Responsibilities
- Manage and support LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), and network infrastructure components to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, Cisco ASA, Juniper devices, and Cisco routers to maintain high availability.
- Implement and oversee network security protocols such as Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine), PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), SSO (Single Sign-On), SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), encryption methods, and vulnerability assessments to safeguard organizational data.
- Maintain network protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), DNS (Domain Name System), and IPsec VPNs for secure communication channels.
- Administer IT infrastructure components such as SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage), VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, Hyper-V, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure to support virtualization and high availability solutions.
- Conduct system hardening, patch management, and configuration updates using automation tools like Ansible and PowerShell to enhance system security.
- Perform network monitoring with SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, and SolarWinds to proactively identify issues and optimize network performance.
- Support remote access solutions including VPNs, remote desktop software, SSH, SFTP, FTP, and openSUSE/Linux/Ubuntu/BSD/Unix systems for flexible connectivity.
- Lead network installation projects involving Cisco routers/switches, Meraki devices, SDLC processes, network architecture design, load balancing strategies, and open-source tools like Bash scripting or Python for automation.
Skills
- Deep understanding of computer networking principles including routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP; network protocols like TCP/IP; Ethernet; VLANs; QoS; DHCP; DNS; IPsec; SSL/TLS; VPN technologies; NAT; SNMP; NFS; SFTP; FTP; SSH; LDAP; GPO (Group Policy Objects); PowerShell scripting; Bash/Shell scripting.
- Proficiency with network security practices including IDS/IPS systems, firewall management with Cisco ASA or Juniper devices, network hardening techniques, vulnerability assessments, encryption standards, SSO integration, PKI management.
- Experience managing diverse operating systems such as Windows Server environments, Linux distributions like Debian or CentOS, openSUSE or BSD variants including Solaris.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere/ESXi or Citrix XenServer for server consolidation and high availability solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud computing services including AWS cloud infrastructure setup & management as well as Azure platform integration.
- Ability to utilize network management tools such as SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor or PRTG for comprehensive monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Strong scripting skills in Python or Shell for automation of routine tasks and system configuration.
- Understanding of DevOps practices including SDLC processes for continuous integration/deployment pipelines in networking contexts.
