About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Tree Climber to join our team here at Eisenhower Tree Care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for tree care, climbing, and an ability to work well with a team. This role requires previous history of working with trees properly, industry standard pruning techniques, and the ability to manage various tasks related to tree service and equipment. The expected hours for this position are between 30 to 50 hours per week, with any hours over 40 considered overtime and compensated at time and a half. We are committed to providing on-the-job training to ensure our team members are well-equipped to perform their duties effectively.
Qualifications
- This hands-on role requires experience in tree care, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential.
- Familiarity with operating grounds maintenance equipment such as chainsaws, ropes, trimmers, blowers, buckets and spider lifts.
- Proficient in identifying tree and shrub species, with a strong understanding of the specific care requirements for each plant type.
- Ability to safely operate a spider lift for elevated tasks.

Responsibilities
- Climb trees using appropriate safety gear and techniques (without spurs) to perform proper pruning & trimming practices.
- Operate bucket trucks and lifts for high-access tree work, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Follow salesperson's detailed instructions when it comes to pruning and removals.
- Proficient in identifying tree and shrub species, with a strong understanding of the specific care requirements for each plant type.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, including chainsaws, ropes, and rigging gear.
- Collaborate with team members and practice proper communication to ensure expectations are met between team members.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients regarding services performed and recommendations for tree care.
Requirements
- Previous experience in tree service industry with climbing focus or crew management is required.
- Familiarity with bucket operation and lift operation safety protocols.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds repeatedly throughout the 8-hour workday.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Certification in arboriculture or related fields is advantageous but not required.
- Capable of demonstrating proficiency in backing a trailer.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Skilled in demonstrating various climbing knots.
- Knowledgeable in ANSI standards.
- Valid Drivers License and clean driving record.
- Fluent in English.
