We're a Santa Clara beverage manufacturer launching an office beverage program in the South Bay. We need to know how fast it sells before we hire someone permanently. So we're paying one person a day rate for three weeks to go find out.
This is a paid tryout:
- $300 a day
- Five days a week
- For three weeks
- $200 for every account you close
If it works and you're the reason it worked, the permanent job is yours.
What you'd be doing
Walking into offices, gyms, medical practices, salons and co-working spaces in Santa Clara, San Jose, Sunnyvale and Cupertino, and placing a stocked refrigerator full of ready-to-drink coffee and boba on a monthly subscription.
The offer is easy to say out loud, which is what makes this job doable in three weeks:
- The refrigerator is free. We deliver it, install it, and stock it.
- We restock it every week. The customer orders nothing and stores nothing.
- Published pricing. $499 to $1,699 a month by bottles per week plus a flat delivery fee $25/wk.
- You can quote the real total in the room and sign it on the spot — no going back to the car to email for a quote.
- You don't do the restocking. A separate driver handles weekly delivery. You sell.
What you get day one
Sample product to give out, a Pocket transcribing and a list of 90+ local accounts with names, addresses and a route. We’ll use the pocket to confirm the number of contacts and capture the contact feedback for refinement of the pitch.
What the day looks like
15-20 in-person touches. This is a walk-in, drop-by, talk-to-the-office-manager job. There are no Zoom calls, no SDR booking your meetings, and no committee between you and a signature. You report directly to the VP of Operations.
What we need from you
- You've sold something to businesses, in person, and you're not afraid of a lobby. Office coffee or water service, vending or micromarkets, beverage or snack routes, uniforms and linen, janitorial, shredding, plant service, catering, payroll, merchant services — the category matters less than whether you've walked in cold and asked for the decision-maker.
- Available to start within two weeks and work Monday–Friday days for the full run
- Valid California license, clean driving record, and a car you'll put a small fridge in (mileage reimbursed at the IRS rate)
- You know the South Bay well enough to plan your own day
- Comfortable being measured on in-person touches per day and accounts closed
Nice to have, not required: you've sold into South Bay offices before and can name buyers you'd call in week one. Background in office coffee service, refreshment services, vending or beverage DSD.
Being straight with you about the downsides
It's three weeks with no guarantee beyond that. It's outdoors and in cars and lobbies, not at a desk. You will hear no a lot in week one. If you want remote work or a guaranteed long-term contract, this isn't it — and we'd rather tell you now.
