Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Memory Care Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team in providing enriching, engaging, and supportive activities for residents with memory impairments. In this vital role, you will create a warm, stimulating environment that promotes cognitive function, social interaction, and emotional well-being for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other memory-related conditions. Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and cognitive abilities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, and social events.
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities and adjust plans accordingly to maximize engagement and safety.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support individual needs and preferences.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes to inform care planning.
- Promote a positive environment by encouraging social interaction among residents while respecting their individual limits.
- Support the overall well-being of residents by providing companionship, emotional support, and encouragement during activities.
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and senior care best practices.
- Experience with recreational therapy or working with individuals with disabilities is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents and collaborate with team members.
- Proven ability to plan events and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
