Associate or Licensed Therapist Position
TULIPA THERAPY — San Diego, CA
About Tulipa Therapy
Tulipa Therapy is a private practice based in San Diego, CA, specializing in supporting high-functioning women navigating anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, and life transitions, including motherhood. I am building a small, intentional group practice rooted in clinical excellence, genuine work-life balance, and a culture where therapists are supported the way they support their clients — with care, honesty, and real investment in their growth. I am building something sustainable, and I want the people who join to grow and thrive here.
The Role
I am looking for a motivated, clinically curious therapist to join our team.
- W-2 position for a therapist (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, Psychologist, or AMFT, ASW, APCC) to work in a hybrid private practice setting providing therapy to children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families.
- Both part-time and full-time positions are available. Client referrals are provided.
- Full-time: an active caseload of approximately 5-6 clients per day; a minimum of 24 clients per week, a mix of private pay and insurance, with a flexible schedule. Eligible for health insurance and full benefits.
- Part-time: an active caseload of approximately 3-4 clients per day; a minimum of 16 clients per week, a mix of private pay and insurance.
Building your caseload and ramping up is a normal and supported part of joining a new practice. Caseload minimums reflect your full caseload target, not a starting expectation — we'll build there together
Position Details
- Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide evidence-based, culturally responsive therapy within your scope and competency
- Actively seek client and/or parent feedback regarding therapy goals and progress
- Complete timely, compliant clinical documentation
- Participate in clinical consultation, supervision, and team meetings as required
- Collaborate with your supervisor on complex cases, treatment planning, and professional development
- Participate in continuing education and practice-wide training opportunities
- Adhere to ethical standards, licensing requirements, and company policies
What We're Looking For
- Active, unrestricted California license or registration: LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, Psychologist (PsyD/PhD), or associate (AMFT, ASW, APCC), active and registered with the BBS or BOP
- Master's or doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related field
- Strong clinical curiosity and a commitment to your own professional growth
- Ability to work independently in a virtual environment while staying connected to the team
- Willing and motivated to build a hybrid caseload of both private pay and insurance clients
- Comfort using an EHR and telehealth platforms
- Alignment with a strengths-based, client-centered approach; culturally aware, inclusive, and open-hearted
- Interested in team collaboration, consultation, and wellness-based events
Compensation
We build your compensation around you. Rather than a one-size-fits-all number, we structure each offer based on your caseload and which benefits you need — so the package fits your life. As a general guide:
- Associate clinicians (AMFT / ASW / APCC): a percentage split of collected revenue plus weekly supervision provided. Full-time associates typically earn roughly $60,000–$80,000 per year including clinical and administrative pay.
- Licensed clinicians (LMFT / LCSW / LPCC / Psychologist): a higher percentage split, reflecting your independent practice. Full-time licensed clinicians typically earn roughly $85,000–$105,000 per year including clinical and administrative pay.
- Administrative time (documentation, meetings, consultation, supervision attendance) is paid separately at an hourly rate.
*Ranges assume a full 24-session weekly caseload and will be higher or lower depending on the caseload you build and the split we structure together. These numbers do not account for any unpaid time off. We'll walk through the exact numbers with you before any offer — transparently, so you can see where every dollar goes.
What You Receive
- Competitive pay and percentage split — clinicians keep more of their collected revenue than the typical group-practice standard.
- Paid administrative time for documentation, case consultation, supervision, and team meetings
- Weekly clinical supervision toward licensure for associates, provided by an LMFT
- Weekly paid case consultation (licensed therapists required to attend once per month)
- Comprehensive health insurance medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents*
- Paid sick leave and generous unpaid flexibility with the freedom to take additional time whenever you need it*
- Admin support for insurance, billing, credentialing, scheduling, and intake
- All marketing done for you — we fill your schedule so you can focus on seeing clients
- Flexible scheduling and remote telehealth options
- Ongoing clinical support and training opportunities
*Indicates benefits available only to full-time W-2 employees.
