Forklift Operator Job Description
Position Summary
Operates liquefied gas, electric, or other powered industrial trucks equipped with lifting devices such as forklifts, to safely push, pull, lift, stack, tier, and transport products, equipment, and materials throughout the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Move levers, controls, and pedals to drive equipment and operate lifting devices.
- Position forks, platforms, clamps, or other attachments under, over, or around pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials.
- Load, unload, transport, stack, and store materials in designated locations.
- Move finished goods, raw materials, and supplies throughout the facility as required.
- Supply production personnel with materials and equipment needed for operations.
- Weigh materials or products and accurately record weights on tags, labels, logs, or production schedules.
- Perform inventory counts and verify material locations and quantities.
- Inspect equipment before operation and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follow all company safety policies, GMPs, and operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of six (6) months of related forklift or material handling experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and company procedures.
- Ability to complete routine reports and documentation accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Must obtain and maintain company Forklift Certification.
- Must successfully complete all required safety and equipment training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in warehouse and production environments with varying temperatures.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment for extended periods.
Pay: From $17.50 per hour
