Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant who is both detail-oriented and mission-driven to lead key financial operations within our organization. This role is ideal for a nonprofit accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings strong experience in grant accounting, fund management, and financial reporting.
You will play a vital leadership role in ensuring financial integrity, supporting program success, and helping us remain compliant with funding and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership & Operations
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and reconciliations
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard assets
Grant & Fund Management
Lead grant tracking, reporting, and invoicing for government and private funding sources
Partner with program teams to monitor budgets and allocate funding effectively
Ensure compliance with funder requirements and nonprofit accounting standards
Strategic & Organizational Support
Support organizational budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Partner with leadership to provide financial insight that drives decision-making
Assist with annual audit preparation and work closely with external auditors
Systems & Process Improvement
Leverage and optimize SAGE Intacct to improve financial processes
Support system enhancements and provide training where needed
Job Requirements
What You Bring
5+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience
Strong expertise in grant accounting and fund accounting
Advanced proficiency with SAGE Intacct (required)
Solid knowledge of GAAP, IRS regulations, and grant compliance requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or MBA preferred
