Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage comprehensive accounting functions for our organization. This role is vital in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting the overall financial health of the company. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience with various financial software, and a proactive approach to bookkeeping and financial management. As a key member of our finance team, you will handle everything from general ledger reconciliation to payroll processing, ensuring all financial data is precise, confidential, and compliant with industry standards.
Duties
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems
- Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis to maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare and post journal entries for month-end closing activities in accordance with GAAP and company policies
- Oversee payroll processing using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and confidentiality standards
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded using accounting systems such as PeopleSoft or Ceridian
- Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and data analysis utilizing Excel data analysis skills and spreadsheets to support decision-making
- Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls where applicable
- Handle tax-related tasks including preparation of tax filings and supporting documentation based on tax experience
- Support governmental accounting requirements by preparing necessary reports and documentation
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing requested documentation and explanations
Requirements
- Proven experience in full charge bookkeeping or accounting roles within a corporate or governmental setting
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, SOX compliance, and technical accounting practices
- Proficiency in multiple financial software platforms including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro or similar systems
- Experience with payroll processing systems such as Paychex or ADP is highly desirable
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping methods
- Solid knowledge of accounts payable/receivable management, bank reconciliations, journal entries and general ledger maintenance
- Ability to analyze financial data using Excel spreadsheets and perform detailed account analysis
- Strong numeracy skills coupled with excellent organizational abilities to handle confidential information securely
- Familiarity with governmental accounting procedures and public accounting standards is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail along with effective communication skills for customer service interactions within finance operations
